Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative In 2006, we became members of the Globally Responsible Leadership Initiative (GRLI) in recognition of the need to proactively engage our people leaders at various stages of their development in the issues of global social responsibility. eTree The National has been a member of eTree since December 2004. eTree is an environmental incentive for shareholders to receive communication such as our annual reports in an electronic format. This is part of our commitment to working with our stakeholders, in this case our shareholders, to reduce both our direct and indirect environmental impacts. In our CR Detailed Facts & Information pack, we provide an annual update on the number of shareholders that have elected to receive their reports electronically and the number of trees which have been planted as a result of this. |

Carbon Disclosure Project The National became a member of the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) in 2007 when CDP launched a membership option for signatories. We are both a signatory and respondent to the CDP information request. The CDP is an annual study of the greenhouse emissions from corporations. In 2006, the CDP expanded from a questionnaire sent to the FT500 companies and included over 2,100 corporations worldwide. In 2007, the 315 signatories to the fourth Carbon Disclosure Project represent over USD 41 trillion in assets under management. 2007 is the fifth consecutive year for the project. The request was sent to 2,400 companies. Investor signatories seek to learn more about companies' carbon emissions and response to climate change, to inform and guide their investment decisions.
